I ask my students to take the time to learn, to study and to practice the business and marketing skills I teach. Starting a business is new to most people, so too is learning the variety of new skills required to make that business successful. Too many people give up too early. I started my journey several years ago in Network Marketing. Among other college degrees, I have a dual Bachelor/Masters’s Degree in Business Information Systems with minor in Information Systems from CCNY. CUNY.EDU & LIU.EDU I also have a very impressive resume in Marketing & Sales with the likes for Lucent Technologies … a bell labs innovation (now called AlcaTel/Lucent or just AlcaTel … a joint venture between France Telecom’s AlcaTel & Bell Labs). When I started this wonderful adventure, I was confident that I would succeed. I am going to make a long story sh!+, erh, ah ..I mean…short, and resist listing names of Internet Business Offers that more or less took me to the cleaners. I was about to give up after charging over $12,000+ on my credit cards for programs from gifting, to matrix’s, to Luxury Travel, to pre-launches, to funnel systems, to pyramids, and ponzi schemes ($3,600+ for that one) to an Internet College that would take me by the hand and have me making money within two weeks ($4,600 for that one).

I think it was about one minute before I was going to take my computer and throw it through the window, when I came across Worldprofit, and a live person called my name out. I almost fell out of my seat! They had to call my name again. I realized it was a real person talking to me from my computer. I called my son Robert and showed him. Internet marketing has become extensively popular with marketers. This is because Internet marketing has become a versatile tool: you can speak with more people all over the world and get your message across to them relatively quickly. You can have your pick of different media online so that you can better tailor your message to fit the needs and desires of as many people as possible. You can post advertisements through plain text, banner ads, animation, video, and sound. There are many ways to reach out to people and you can choose games, short stories, poetry, or images.

Indeed, Internet marketing has been so popular, people have often forgotten that the main audience of the Internet is still people. This means that every kind of Internet marketing must have a social aspect to it. true, you can reach out to people by writing content that touches hearts, have banner ads that feature heartwarming images, animation that is fun and humorous, videos that are of high quality and featuring people that have a lot in common with your customers, and sound bytes that can help your customers get closer to you. However, there is nothing like real brick-and-mortar networking, and nothing like meeting people face to face in order to establish connections.

How might you benefit from real social networking, when there are wider networks online, such as FaceBook and MySpace? First of all, you are not sure about the identities of members of social networks. True, a social network can be a great place to generate viral marketing, but you will eventually have to meet with people in order to put up your business. Second, people will still want to meet you in order to gauge if you are to be trusted, so why wait? Start looking for a place to meet people that you might be interested in working with, or he might be interested in your products and services. The best place for you to start is at a convention or at a speaking event, where people who are interested in the same thing congregate and have a good number of meals together.

When at a convention or a speaking event, be gregarious but not overbearing. Shake people?s hands firmly, introduce yourself in a clear voice, and be polite. Do not interrupt conversations, and do not claim to know everything or put on airs; at the same time, do not be too humble or quiet. Walk around, know people, and ask questions: this way, you will know more about people and see how well you can convince them to either join your prospective company or visit your website. If you are in a circle of people, try to draw quiet people into a conversation.

Always have your business cards handy, and bring at least twice the number you need when you go to a convention. On your business card, have your name printed out, along with one contact number, a professional contact email, and the URL of your website. Present your business card midway through a conversation, when you have successfully introduced yourself and made known your career or what exactly it is you do. By presenting your business card immediately, you may appear to be presumptuous, so establish your reputation first. First impressions count for a good deal, so be gentle but fierce, and be friendly and open to people.

These are only a few tips that you may want to follow when doing brick-and-mortar social networking. If you are able to meet up with people and be the best person face-to-face, you can be easily trusted online.

I had the opportunity to sit down with George Kosch, CEO and Co-Founder
of Worldprofit Inc, to discuss his reflections over the last two years
as CEO and get his thoughts on the future of the company.

Interviewer:  I understand that Worldprofit, now in it’s 23rd year of
business recently underwent some major changes?

George: Yes, Sandi Hunter and myself are the original co-founders of
Worldprofit. Recently the two of us, took over 100% of the control,
operations and ownership of the company. Sandi Hunter has served as
President since the company’s inception in 1994 and she continues in
that capacity.  Myself, well two years ago, I transitioned into the role
of CEO following the retirement of the former CEO.  I continue to be
actively involved with all aspects of training as well as integration of
new technologies for the benefit of our Members, but I have taken over
more of a leadership role in terms of innovative growth and direction of
the company.  Sandi and I are proud of the company we’ve built together
and are planning for a strong future in an industry that is growing in
leaps and bounds.

Interviewer: What are your reflections on the last 2 years in your
position as CEO at Worldprofit?

George:  In a word, it’s been “exhilarating!”  We introduced a number of
new advertising services to meet the needs of our current Members and to
attract new customers unfamiliar with our brand.  We cater to the online
business community to service the needs of affiliate marketers and home
based business owners and entrepreneurs. When we first started
Worldprofit in 1994, Amazon didn’t exist, in fact, 99% of the affiliate
marketing companies today didn’t exist. Affiliate marketing was not a
common term at that time, nor an accepted method of earning online.
Worldprofit was the first company to successfully offer affiliate
marketing within a Membership platform, and it’s the model our company
still operates within today. We called it a Dealership but the principle
was the same. Refer others to our company and when a sale is made we pay
commission to our Members worldwide. Today, thousands and thousands of
companies offer some type of affiliate marketing, it’s a reputable way
of earning and an accepted practice generating millions of dollars in
sales and commissions.  We realized very early on, that affiliate
marketing is not an industry going away, it’s one that is growing
exponentially.  We saw this as an opportunity for Worldprofit to service
the needs of Affiliate marketers. We ourselves offer an Affiliate
marketing program, but importantly we wanted to make sure  our Members
could use our services, software, traffic and advertising to promote any
and all their affiliate programs.  We wanted to be the platform where
affiliate marketers could get everything they need to grow their online
income, all in one place at Worldprofit.   In the last few years we have
focused on increasing the number of resources available to our Members.
An important part of this is providing training in marketing, and
assistance in using the specialized services proprietary to
Worldprofit.  Our focus has been on further expanding our online
training program, enhancing our weekly interactive training, and
increasing customer service to better meet the needs of our growing
Membership.   I developed the Home Business Bootcamp Training program
over a decade ago to help people learn the skills they need to build
their business, with changes in technology this training must
continually be updated and integrated to incorporate new innovations,
strategies, social media and more.  Affiliate marketing is easy to do.
What’s difficult for most is how to build affiliate marketing in it’s
simplest form, into an actual professional online business that
generates consistent growing income.   People are attracted to affiliate
marketing because anyone can do it from the comfort of their home,
laptop, tablet or phone.    Where people get stuck and need help is with
the actual business do’s and don’ts.  Operating and growing your own
online business can be tough, it’s easy to get frustrated and give up if
you aren’t sure what you’re doing.  It’s for this reason, that in
addition to the online self-paced bootcamp lessons, I personally conduct
a weekly LIVE interactive training program. It gives our Members the
opportunity to ask questions, request demonstrations and be part of our
home business community of people helping people. I may be CEO now, but
I have no plans to give up the hands on training and personalization
that has made Worldprofit so unique and long lasting. I’m a Software
Engineer, and have created much of the software and special resources
available so providing this training keeps me connected with our
Members. I really enjoy it and by listening to the needs of our Members,
I can tweak existing resources and create more software as technology
evolves.

Interviewer: George, what do you see or have planned for the future for
Worldprofit?

George:  The future is bright! I see even more companies “affiliatize”
their products to expand their market reach to tap into the global reach
affiliate marketing provides. I see more people worldwide recognizing
that affiliate marketing is a powerful way to earn extra money from
multiple reputable sources.  My vision is for Worldprofit to continue to
provide affiliate marketers with the tools, resources and training they
need to grow their own online business. Our unique, comprehensive
platform is built on supporting business owners. Our Members have come
to rely on Worldprofit for trusted traffic, personalized training,
proven effective tools and so importantly – help when needed.  Our goal
is to assist people to literally change their lives by teaching them how
